Once upon a time, more than 300 years ago in the noble family of Grassalkovich, a boy was born whose name was Antal. This boy studied a lot and he was very clever. When he grew up, he worked very hard. He was assigned important dutes, so he became increasingly noteworthy. He bought more and more estates and palaces. He was raised to the rank of Count by Maria Theresa for his loyal and careful work.
In the middle of his largest estate in Gödöllő, the count had a wonderful Palace built surrounded by a beautiful garden. The Queen visited him and his family there. The Palace and the estate were first inherited by his son, Antal, then his son, another Antal became the owner after him. They did not spend as much time there as their father had done, but in spite of this some changes were made to the building, for instance, the count’s son had a theatre built in the Palace.
